Stupid Questions, Stupid Answers
Yesterday I read about how Ex-Google Answers researchers are launching their own answers website. In the spirit of answers I decided to head on over to Yahoo! Answers to find some questions that I could answer. To my luck I found a plethora of great questions that I could answer. For example alter_3m0 asks “I can’t connect to the internet.?” Well maybe that isn’t a properly formed question but you catch the gist of it. I’m trying to figure out how he asked the question in the first place if he can’t connect to the internet. I think that one must be a joke question. Then there is Christina who needs help with tomorrow’s C++ assignment. She received 4 responses within 10 minutes (including one from myself). Boy do I wish this was around when I was in school. Although, how on earth will these students learn anything if they can’t figure out basic if/else statements, or for/while loops?
Either way, it is no wonder that some ex-Google Answers employees think they still have a shot at carving out a portion of the online answers market space. The next step is to find a way to filter through all the junk questions on the site. To be honest though, I did find myself answering a few questions just for the fun of it. For some reason a few points to my yahoo profile was a large enough incentive. Go figure!
